For my Ards readers

Following last weeks motion on the Assembly, a number of womens groups/organisations in North Down have come together to form North Down and Ards Women's Forum.

The lack of strategic, female focused funding streams, coming into this region (and others) was clearly highlighted by the inital motion and subsequent amendment by Peter Weir MLA and Michelle McIlveen MLA. The recommended mapping exercise will hopefully include all services, which have been previously ommitted in what are now long outdated reports. We belive Sinn Fein's support for the amendment illustrates the need of this mapping exercise to promote equality, inclusivity and transparancey, and does not dilute the original intention of the motion. It adds clarity, and can only help us all in our aim to secure long term, core funding for the sector.

If any womenslinkers are aware of any small group in North Down or Ards, and feel they could benefit from this forum, please advise them to contact Alison Blayney at Kilcooley Womens Centre or Karen Sullivan in Rathgill Community Association.
