'Dig'
12pm: Archaeological Walking Tour with Ruairí Ó Baoill
6pm Dig Seminar
Thursday October 22nd @ PLACE

Join PLACE for a day of archaeological exploration to find out what's under our feet and what made Belfast the city it is today:

At 12pm, Ruairí Ó Baoill of the Centre for Archaeological Fieldwork at QUB will lead an archaeological walking tour of Belfast, exploring the history of the city from its beginnings as a small settlement to the present day. (Please note: Tour leaves at 12pm sharp, lasting 1 - 1.5 hours; limited numbers - book in advance to avoid disappointment.)

Then, at 6pm Archaeologist Audrey Gahan (Gahan & Long) talks about the finds and features of the former Sirocco Works site in East Belfast, and leads a discussion on archaeological excavations that happen as a result of urban development and construction, including how individual artifacts and a site’s history can be integrated into a building’s design and function.

Booking
Both the walking tour and the seminar are free but booking in advance is recommended – call us at PLACE on (028) 9023 2524 or email info@place.uk.net
