Festival of fools

7th Festival of Fools – Thursday 29th April to Bank Holiday Monday 3rd May. The line-up promises to be a corker.

From the opening show in the grounds of City Hall, featuring a Russian fairy tale brought to life with puppetry, music and theatre; through to the closing performance of a surreal colourful cabaret, the 7th international street theatre festival welcomes you into a wonderful world of bizarre comedy, belly laughs, magical moments and bewildering encounters.

Among the highlights are Rob Torres – International Man of Mirth, http://www.foolsfestival.com/act/30 who will be jetting in from USA to tickle the collective funnybone with the highest calibre silent comedy which has graced streets and theatres across Europe and America.

Mr Pejo’s Wandering Dolls will be strolling over from St Petersburg just in time to present our opening show ‘Mogota’ Thurs 29th Apr at 6pm in the grounds of Belfast City Hall http://www.foolsfestival.com/act/34 before going on to provide a unique night time procession through Cathedral Quarter which will draw you into a mysterious world http://www.foolsfestival.com/act/40

We are very excited to have Spain’s leading street clown, Leandre, performing a tribute to traditional circus clowns with Company Le Tal in Démodés http://www.foolsfestival.com/act/3

We don’t just celebrate the rich tradition of street theatre from around the world; the Festival of Fools invites you to explore Belfast’s newest public space, Saint Anne’s Square in the Cathedral Quarter, with the help of Apollo 11 astronauts (see what we did there?) http://www.foolsfestival.com/act/26. This magnificent piazza will play host to the finale of Mr Pejo’s Wandering Dolls nighttime processional performances http://www.foolsfestival.com/act/40 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; various shows and walkabout on the Sunday and Monday; as well as the large scale 6pm shows of Démodés http://www.foolsfestival.com/act/3 and Dr Caligari’s Cabaret http://www.foolsfestival.com/act/33.

As well as magnificent street theatre, the Festival of Fools is also offering you the chance to take advantage of some seriously good discount vouchers at some of Belfast’s top restaurants. Inside every brochure, you will find vouchers for the brand new ‘Festival of Foods’, entitling you to wonderful deals at 9 leading eateries - La Boca, The Garrick, Little Wing, The Cloth Ear, 2Taps, Nicks, No 27, The John Hewitt, Four Corners Bar & Restaurant
