Vote for Jessie @ the Golden thread

Last night saw the opening of an exhibition at the Golden thread gallery -very timely were the GT eductaion department have been doing outreach in the oldpark area of North Belfast, there is a video of a number of young people who were interviewed about one of their friends that had become a politician. It was excellent and really funny in places I really wanted to find out who was Jessie and why did he rise to become a politician. As I was leaving a bus load of the children ran into the gallery and jumped about so excited about seeing their work and themselves in the gallery. Really good fun and proper outreach. Let see more of it. Then also with a childhood theme it was over to Belfast Exposed where there was an exhibition of playgrounds and those hanging around them-love the large scale photographic prints and a very young following of people at the opening. Then into PS2 where the walls and floor were once again the space is transformed this time with a kind of pyjama of writing and lines. Always worth a look into the box in the middle were you connect into the inner santum of your being ??? or maybe not.

I went over to Queens street afterwards but realised I got the wrong date maybe it was face book maybe my mind will have to check.

What I really was struck by was just how connected and exciting the Art world is becoming in Belfast, there is a whole other generation of artists and participants who are getting behind the whole art sceen and really making it start to rock.

Not long to catch the BPW show lots of it has sold so if your interested you better have a look soon. Great to see some new names getting into print dont forget lots of the galleries are now open SUnday.
