Architecture in Recession - lessons from the past and elsewhere

PLACE presents a special panel discussion on Architecture in Recession – lessons from the past and elsewhere taking place this Wednesday 2nd September at 5.30pm at the Black Box, Hill Street, Belfast.

On the panel are Paul Hyett (Past President of RIBA), John Graby (Director RIAI), Barrie Todd (Chair of the Ministerial Advisory Group & Past President, RSUA) and Mervyn Black (Past President, RSUA). Questions for speakers are welcome in advance and should be addressed to michael@place.uk.net

The main issues to be addressed will most likely be the impact of the recession on architects, practice and architecture.

Late Night Art exhibition launches: James Hughes & the UAHS

PLACE is proud to present Spectres of Place: Three Decades of Ulster Interiors by Ballymena-based photographer James Hughes, a selection of Hughes’ 30 years of photographing Ulster interiors. The launch takes place this Thursday 3rd September from 6-9pm and the show continues from Fri 4th - Sat 26th September 2009. Also on Saturday 12th September @ 2pm James introduces his work in a special artist’s talk. Admission is free but booking is advised – email info@place.uk.net or phone (028) 9023 2524.
