Tall ship info

Belfast will play host to a magnificent spectacle, from 13 - 16 August, as the final port of the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge 2009

Local trainee crew, who had the opportunity to sail as part of the final leg of the race, along with crew sailing from ports throughout the UK, will be welcomed back to Belfast with a reception that will ‘kick off’ four fabulous days in August.

Highlights

Fireworks - Thursday 13, Friday 14 and Saturday 15 August
Each evening, a burst of colour will light up the river Lagan and Belfast Lough, which will bring the day’s events to a close at approximately 9.10pm.
Continental Market
Come along and sample the culinary delights on offer in the Continental Market. Enjoy a bite to eat and a continental beer while you soak up the surroundings.
Funfair
All the fun of the fair, with rides for the whole family! From the old favourites such as the carousel and dodgems to the sheer exhilaration of the Cyclone Twist and Superbowl!
Aerobatic displays - Friday 14, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August
Look to the skies and be amazed as these unique aircrafts wow you with a sparkling aerobatic performance of manoeuvrability and grace.

Getting to and from the event

With over 400,000 visitors expected to attend the Belfast Maritime Festival Tall Ships 2009, getting to and from the event needn’t be stressful!

By bus and train
To avoid the traffic, why not leave the car at home and make use of the wide range of bus and train services provided by Translink.
By car - park 'n' ride
If you prefer to use the car, there will be dedicated park 'n' ride sites located on the outskirts of the city. An event shuttle service will bring you from here to the heart of the event. £2 per adult, children under 16 and senior citizens free of charge.
We are also providing a free event shuttle bus service to take you around the event sites.
