Friday night (14 May 2010), Portaferry based PenInsula are back in the swing of things hosting a reading with Ian Sansom at the Barholm, 8pm (£5). Ian is a much published author including the 'Bad Book Affair' (2010) which is the most recent in the Mobile Librarian series. Actually you need to know too that he is fabulous and incredibly warm (not to mention frighteningly intelligent) speaker.
Saturday (15 May 2010) you may want to get prepared (poem, song, story etc) for the next
Poems for a Sunday Afternoon (16 May 2010) - 2.30pm at the Down Arts Centre. February's session was great. Everybody read or sang - great to hear work from new people and new work from people we know. On Sunday, Write! Down and Down Arts Centre welcome you, as always, to come and chill out with some poetry and to share your own work or a piece from a favourite. We'll have a couple of respresentatives of Down Writers reading and are particularly delighted to have Newcastle's Grainne Tobin to read from her second collection 'The Nervous Flyer's Companion' (Summer Palace Press, 2010).
...And if you have energy for one last event I will be reading with Sinead Morrissey (Irish Times Poetry Now Award for her most recent collection 'Through the Square Window') at the Dark Horse, 6pm on Sunday. More at www.newbelfastarts.org/wordwork
