Snowing in Belfast

Well we got it at last, snow that is. I turn on the radio and its schools close schools close. It puts in in mind of around 15 years ago. One of the project staff from Thunderbay Canada come over to Northern Ireland to do some prep work on a wider horizons programme for the IFI. She happened to come when it was snowing and could not believe the chaos that the province was turned into. Burst pipes schools of chaos on the roads etc, etc, etc. The reason being that in Thunder bay Canada where she was from they often had 15- 20 ft of snow in the winter for months on end, you had to shovel your way out of your house.

The car parks had electric plug sockets in them because you had to plug your car in as otherwise the cars would never work as it was so cold. Ice fishing was a popular sport, go into the middle of a lake cut a hole in the ice and fish..............wow, now how is that for entertainment ? She said if there was the same attitude in Thunderbay to snow that there was in Northern Ireland they would all be dead. So I suppose it makes you realise the difference that climate gives to a situation, what apart from attitutes is going to be required to change if our climate is changing or when are climate changes more??

Will there be an increase demand for snow shovels?? and slieghs ? will ice fishing become a popular sport ? who knows....................................but are we ready ??

However on another note entirely as long as there are a few humans around the human race will keep on going because of love or lust or is it both ? who knows but if you want to try and encourage it into your life then dont forget the BPW tonight where you will find love in lots of shapes and sizes................................well on the walls anyway but you never know ;-)

Bye for now.
